Multi BOB, Multi Group Placing Can Ch Motia's Jellybean Jenna Lutz CCGC

Please allow me to introduce my girl Jenna.  I guess for a start Jenna's reg'd name is somewhat goofy (sorry) but it is:  Can Ch Motia's Jellybean Jenna Lutz CCGC.  Jenna was born May 24, 2002,  CKC registration MJ804743 and AKC registration # WS113896/01.   Jenna was purchased as an 11 week old puppy primarily as a pet and companion.  However, due to the persistence and perserverance of a friend of mine, Valerie Rodger, Jenna made her show debut at the Edmonton Kennel Club show in September 2003.  Valerie is a Basenji owner/handler/breeder and in her limited knowledge of Rottweiler standard convinced me that Jenna had a chance and so I entered her in the EKC show.  Prior to our debut Jenna & I took show handling classes at Paws That Please Training Academy, on whose website Jenna's photo now graces as one of the academy's "success stories".

I truly don't know how we did it but Jenna took 6 points her first show taking back to back Winners Bitch/Best of Winners wins.  We found out what it meant to be humbled by entering in the NACA show in Edmonton the following month and walking away completely empty handed.  As we did at our next show in Grande Prairie the following month as Jenna was unfortunately the only rottweiler entered.  She pulled off her next Winner's Bitch/BOW win for a 3 point Win at the CKOC show in Calgary in November 2003 under the handling of Larry Clark to land on the Dreaded 9!!  She finished her Championship in March 2004 under the handling of Lance Carmen taking Winner's Bitch, BOW/ and BOS to finish with a 4 point win.

We do not show every weekend and sometimes not even every month as I truly feel that she must be allowed to be a dog first and a show dog second.   If I thought I was nervous in the ring with Jenna as a class dog----my nervousness tripled with her as a Special.  Fortunately though I have located a wonderful handler in Peggy Mignon whom Jenna adores (I think the feelings mutual) and whom I'm pleased to say treats Jenna with all the care and love that I do myself.  Under Peggy's expert handling Jenna took a BOS win at the Rottweiler Booster at EKC in April 2004 as well as a BOB the next day beating numerous well known specials.  At the NACA show in June Peggy again handled Jenna to a BOB and a BOS win before they went to the Lethbridge show at the end of June.  There Peggy handled Jenna to 2 BOS, 1 BOB and a GROUP 1!  Never thought I would see my girl in a BIS ring......it was amazing!

Jenna has now retired for the year in preparation for her litter.  Jenna has obtained her formal obedience training through Sentry Dogs here in Edmonton through the professional training of Kevin George and will be competing for her CD next year.  Jenna also completed her CCGC test through the Pet Therapy Society for Northern Alberta from whom she received an invitation to train as a registered pet therapy dog.   Jenna's temperament is absolutely sweet and loving and she manages to win over everyone whom she meets.  Her most "favorite" trick at dog shows occurs while walking through crowds of people.  Knowing how seriously deprived of attention she is (not likely) she manages to reach over and bump people under their hands while walking through a crowd to encourage them to pet her.  Thus far no one has declined, she's truly a love sponge in every sense of the word not only with people but with animals of all sizes as well.  Her favorite "show handling class boyfriend"  is Simon a 3 lb Yorki whom she'll drop down in a play bow to visit nose to nose with her bum wiggling the whole time.

Jenna has been professionally photographed by Wells Photographic Design here in Edmonton and they made us the most beautiful porfolio of photographs that we take to dog shows with us.   After whelping her litter Jenna will be returning to the show ring in 2005 to be specialed by Peggy Mignon as well as hopefully attending some US shows to compete for her American Championship.  We'll also have Jenna's puppy that we'll be keeping out in the show ring in 2005 as well!!

Along the show ring circuit we managed to meet some fairly amazing people with some truly beautiful dogs to mention only but a few would be Traci Geremia with her amazing furry kids Caemon and Kenya, Kristi Fraser with her furry kids Jewel, Jager, and Justice, "grandma" Donna Slonowski with her beautiful boy Fiddler, "grandma" Cynthia Roney with her beautiful girl Rave, Susan Peyton with her beautiful boy Alex, and Elaine Roth with her gorgeous girl Annie.  It is so amazing to be able to pick the minds of some of these breeders with vast years of experience and find out the answers to questions that we "newbies" are just now thinking of.

My beautiful Jenna has completely exceeded my expectations in how well she has done this past year.  She is currently sitting on the RCC Top Rott Stats as #5 Rottweiler in Canada in All Breed wins, and #2 Rottweiler in Canada in Breed wins.  She is the top ranked bitch in both all breed and breed wins and I simply couldn't be more proud of her nor can I ever thank Peggy Mignon enough for making my girl shine!!!  Jenna will be shown very selectively for the remainder of the year and will make her final show appearance at the 2005 Rottweiler Club of Canada National Specialty in Toronto at the end of November 2005.  After this show our plans are to retire Jenna permanently in preparation for her 2nd and quite likely her final litter.  Who knows what the future holds though.....she may make the odd show appearance in the future but I believe after all the showing of this year and after her 2nd litter she truly has done enough to deserve  a great retirement.  She is still a champion squirrel chaser and NOW has discovered that chasing pigeons can be JUST as fun!!!  Truly there is nothing she enjoys more than sleeping on your bed at night and drowsing the day away in front of the fireplace.
